Meet the Brands | Irregular Choice x Lindy Bop

Here at Lindy Bop, we’re not afraid to stand out from the crowd. We’ve released many a weird and wonderful print over the years such as; ‘Clarice’ Mariachi Chicken’s Playsuit, ‘Anita’ Navy Graffiti Animal Wrap Dress, and ‘Dawn’ Purple Street Print Swing Dress. Another brand who’ve succeeded in staying original bypassing high street trends is Irregular Choice. With an upcoming store launch in Manchester, we interviewed Dan Sullivan to give you readers an insider’s glimpse into the design process.

Introduce yourself and your role at Irregular Choice:

Hello, I am Dan Sullivan the owner and designer of the brand “Irregular Choice” which has been established for 19 years. We have always strived to be creative and have never swayed away from being irregular.

How would you describe Irregular Choice in five words?

Creative, fun, unique, innovative, magical.

Backstory: When, where and how was the company established?

My parents were designers of creative shoes in the 70s & 80s and I had a taste for footwear at an early age. Those experiences inspired me to create my own brand in my late 20’s. In 1999 I started Irregular Choice as I wanted to create something unique and different. I saw that the footwear fashion in the UK, and across the world, had become very boring, not what it used to be in the decades before, and I wanted to bring that back to the market. I knew that customers wanted something unique and fun but at affordable prices. The formula has worked and people all over the world have fallen in love with Irregular Choice.

What’s your favourite product and why?

It’s impossible to have a favourite collection. There are so many individual shoes every season that stand out.

What product launch are you most looking forward to and why?

The recent Snow Globe heels launch was a really important one for me. After coming up with the concept, it took years to develop it into an actual working glitter globe heel. So many trails along the way, but we got there and I felt really proud of it when it was finally shown to the fans. It’s really important to me that the fans understand the effort that goes into making every pair of our shoes, especially the brand new, never before realised concepts.

Any exciting upcoming projects you can share with our readers?

We are really excited to be expanding our retail stores across the globe. We are currently building a store in Manchester, Melbourne and Camden simultaneously. We are also working on some fantastic collaborations but we will not be telling you what they are just yet. They will be worth the wait, they’re going to blow you away.
